FootyTactic is a football education initiative dedicated to teaching the strategic and cognitive aspects of football.
In many development environments, players focus primarily on technical drills, while the tactical side of the game — understanding positioning, movement, and decision making — receives far less attention.
However, tactical intelligence is one of the most important factors that separates good players from elite players.
FootyTactic aims to bridge this gap by providing professional-level tactical education that helps players better understand the game itself.
The initiative works with football academies to introduce players to deeper tactical principles. The program primarily works with academies in India, where many talented players exist but access to advanced tactical coaching can be limited.

Understanding attacking and defensive structures is essential for players competing at higher levels. FootyTactic provides this missing tactical education through structured learning resources.
Founder — Rikhil Katpally
FootyTactic was founded by Rikhil Katpally, who created the initiative to help players gain access to deeper tactical knowledge of football and better understand how the game is played at higher levels.
Rikhil's football philosophy emphasizes intelligent movement, quick decision making, and the importance of positional awareness within a team structure. He places strong value on short passing combinations, intelligent ball circulation, and coordinated movement between players, believing that football at its highest level is defined by how well teams think and move together.
Rikhil is heavily influenced by the positional play philosophy associated with clubs such as FC Barcelona, where players are trained to constantly scan the field, create passing triangles, and maintain positional balance.
At the same time, he studies and values the aggressive transition play used by clubs such as Liverpool F.C., emphasizing the importance of quick counterattacks and structured defensive organization.

We had partnered with FootTactic a couple months ago and would say it has been a fantastic experience! The videos and teaching of Rikhil has helped our players see improvement in their tactical understanding and off-ball movement. Before, they seemed a bit lost in our game and we were being exposed by other teams. Once Rikhil came in, he was able to quickly identify the problems and propose these tactical videos and training which in about 2 months was able to help the team.The curriculum has helped the players decision making and take their confidence to the next level.
